Wild Romance

Hillstone, St Lucia

We were delighted to create a beautiful custom wedding design for the Hillstone, St Lucia Showcase in May. Hillstone is the perfect venue for couples who are looking for a beautiful venue with multiple spaces, is close to Brisbane CBD, onsite ceremony space and amazing food and service.

Having showcased at Hillstone before, we wanted to do something a bit different, so we started by requesting an outdoor space and then designed our concept around the beautiful Mango Tree Terrace. The Mango Tree takes pride of place on the terrace and has hanging Moroccan style silver lanterns, which we chose to tie into the table design by making silver the base colour with a table cloth. We then added life to the table through the use of a soft and wild floral centerpiece, crafted by Aurora Floral Studio, that drew the eye seamlessly from the table to the tree.

At Ht Events we really value the natural aesthetic of the space we are working and designing for, which means that we always try to build a design concept that will enhance the space and draw on existing elements to create a refined and seamless result. By finding one or two common elements in a space, you can then create a concept that ties everything together and feels like it belongs there. The result is not only beautiful but also a pleasure for guests who aren’t overwhelmed by competing aesthetics.

Once we had chosen the base and the floral concept, we selected the finer details to bring it all together. Our new glass plates were selected as a feature piece that would add a unique touch to the table, but equally not detract from the flowers and the silver base. It was important to us that the silver table cloth didn’t get lost under heavy table items, as it would hinder the link with the overhead lanterns. We also incorporated acrylic signage, menus and table numbers, with white font that would stand out against the silver table cloth. Candles added a soft ambiance to the table and white napkins placed under the plates, balanced the white text on the acrylic menus.

To finish it off we created pink floral menus to add a some colour to the glass plates and link back to the beautiful soft pastels of the floral feature piece. Lastly, a deeper blue fabric was placed underneath the flowers. While it was important not to overbear the silver tablecloth with heavier colours, we found the floral centrepiece needed a deeper colour to cement the wild array of ivy and olive branches that spilled over onto the table.

We loved creating and styling this concept and we hope you loved hearing about our design process behind it.
